Illuminism:

'It would be correct to say, both etymologically and conceptually, that an illumination and enlightenment can be used interchangeably as regards spiritual matters. It is an archaic term deriving from the French illuminer. The term has been used in modern times primarily with respect to and by secret societies, for the most part, orders that have modelled their practices after the mystery cults of the Hellenic world, which flourished around the Mediterranean coast and Near East at the period when the Roman Empire dominated the region and its cultures.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illuminism

The term 'illuminatus' has also been used in limited capacity as an honorary title for theologians during the Middle Ages. For example, Illuminatus -- Francis Mayron, O.F.M., 1325-27; Raymond Lully, O.F.M., 1315; Illuminatus et sublimis -- Joannes Tauler, O.P., 1361.

www.newadvent.org/cathen/12670c.htm

The word Illuminism, when used as a proper noun, refers specifically to the form of enlightenment or illumination that is a part of advancement in the ranks of various secret societies that claim a common origin with the Bavarian Illuminati. As such it is an important concept within Discordianism as well. The idea of Illumination can be usefully compared to Enlightenment, Grace, and Satori in other spiritual traditions.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discordianism

The modern Thomasine Church, a New Religious Movement rooted in Gnosticism, Christianity, and the Gospel of Thomas uses the term as a collective description intellectual values and philosophy which explicitly privileges reason and logic over opinion and belief in epistemological matters. This use of the term can be usefully compared to Empiricism, Positivism and Scientism. Members of the Thomasine Church associate their version of Illuminism with the scientific method and critical thinking.'

Please see the Gnosticism section on the Mainstream Religions page, and in particular, the paragraphs on the Thomasine Church, and its concept of Illuminism and Hesychasm.

The term 'illuminatus' is a nomenclature adopted by Freemasons and also Luciferians, to the best of BlackSpy's knowledge, meaning enlightened one. It is a form of grading or measure of spiritual attainment. It may be used more or less fluidly in this sense. The Illuminati is the plural form of Illuminatus, meaning a collection of Illuminatus. Illuminatus is a measure of Luciferic truth and enlightenment. Clearly there are many types of Traditional Luciferian, as discussed in the section on Lucifer above. Some are more balanced in terms of light and dark elements, whereas others are more biased towards the darker elements and towards Theistic Satanism - either indirectly or explicity. These forms of Illuminism may draw on Ancient Egyptian mythology to varying degrees. Traditional and indeed Modern Luciferianism are both strongly anti-Christian. Clearly not all Luciferians are megalomaniacs, but Weishaupt (the founder of the Bavarian Illuminait) certainly was one (a megalomaniac).

Gnostic Luciferians, for example, may sometimes describe their core philosophy as 'dedicated to Intellectual Illuminism' and advocating 'ISelf-Evolution to higher levels of conscious being'; those who want to know 'more about the body of knowledge contained within the embodiment of Lucifer.' This is clearly a different type of Illuminism than that described above regarding the Thomasine Church, in terms of approach, practice and the embodiment of different philosophies and beliefs, where the balance lies and ultimate goal (uniting with God gaining Gnosis vs Left-Hand Self-Deification). However, both are types of Illuminism and will have probably as much in common as they do not have in common.

Clearly Illuminism can embody a wide variety of different philosophies as well as scientific knowledge and theories. It can be as 'secular' or as 'superstitious' as the individual proponent wants to be. It can embody 'morality' or respect for others to any degree it chooses. Most practitioners of Left-Hand and Right-Hand Paths value human life in different ways, and a Christian or Buddhist is no more likely to harm another than a Satanist is (there are those that embody these philosophies and those that do not); but clearly those who are historically considered to be the Bavarian Illuminati were unscrupulous in their methods, and indeed some of those associated with the modern Elite Groups may indeed act in a clearly selfish manner with little respect for democracy, the interests of the people who voted for them or indeed their shareholders, international law and/or the lives/welfare of others in certain specific cases. These individuals give 'illuminism' a bad name, but it is their choice how they act; as long as they accept the consequences, as those lives they affect reap the consequences of these individual's actions (which hopefully they will).

BlackSpy has personally no major issue with the philosophical concept of Illuminism, and some of the imagery; however he does take issue with some of the esoteric practices of Illuminism in its different forms and some of the pagan imagery and occult symbolism. BlackSpy subscribes to the philosophy of intellectual Illuminism on some level, but has not found any 'fringe' groups that really embody his personal tastes, preferences and slants that he feels 100% comfortable with. That is after all the whole point of illuminism, that is a personalised experience, but clearly there must be some common ground in terms of approach and actual practices.

Brief History of The Illuminati:

Dr Adam Weishaupt, a Catholic priest, in Bavaria, Germany, had developed a strong interest in Egyptian pagan religion, Manichaeism (similar to Gnostic Luciferianism - see below), Freemasonry and the Occult. Weishaupt was reputed to have been instructed by the Rothschilds to leave the Catholic Church, and unite all the different occult groups. He created the coven called the 'Golden Dawn' which, till this day, is allegedly still the Rothschilds' private coven. After five years of preparation, he formed a secret society known as the Ancient Illuminated Seers of Bavaria, in 1776, later to become known as The Illuminati, allegedly under the instruction of the House of Rothschild. He felt that Freemasonry was too open and wanted a more secretive organisation. Its purpose was to unite all the most intelligent free thinkers, and promote 'reason' above dogmatic Christianity, although Weishaupt's real agenda was to exert influence over world affairs, overturn governments, and to abolish Christianity. Athough the organisation recruited many practising in the arts of paganism and the occult, Weishaupt himself was reputed to have been a Theistic Satanist according to some sources (he was a dark pagan or dark Luciferian at the very least).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Weishaupt

Weishaupt adopted the symbol of the all seeing eye as the symbol of the Illuminati. Adam Weishaupt joined the eclectic Masonic lodge 'Theodore of Good Counsel' in Munich, and towards the end of 1778. His goal was reputed to be infiltrate and take over as many Freemasonry lodges as possible, to establish a global control over the higher levels of Freemasonry. He is reputed to have employed John Robison to assist in infiltrating Masonic Lodges in Europe. John Robison was a long time, high degree Mason in the Scottish Rite, a professor of Natural Philosophy at Edinburgh University in Scotland, a British historian, and Secretary-General to the Royal Society of Edinburgh. John Robison however discovered Weishaupt's true intentions and exposed the organisation in a book. The Columbia Lodge of the Order of the Illuminati was founded in New York in 1785, and other Illuminati Lodges were formed in subsequent years in America. The intensions of the Illuminati was gradually discovered by the various monarchs across Europe and the organisation was subsequently persecuted between 1790 and 1799. Ex-members were recorded to have formed other similar organisations however after the edict banning The Illuminati. Weishaupt was reputed to have left the organisation and reconverted to Catholicism prior to his death. The extent of the fragmented Illuminati ex-members subsequent influence on Freemasonry, finance and politics is a subject of considerable debate and conspiracy theories. No organisation today officially exists under this name today.

A extract from David Rivera's book on the Illuminati can be found below describing its history and origins in the 18th Century and early 19th Century, and also the history of Freemasonry.

The complete e-book by David Rivera, entitled 'The Final Warning' can be read at the link below, in pdf format. This describes the family tree of those connected to the Illuminati of the 18th Century and his view on the connections that may exist today. The book contains some interesting historical facts, and is factually accurate for the most part, although it does tend to generalise about socialism, new age, the occult, Freemasonry, paganism, 'Illuminati' and Satanism as being almost interchangeable terms and linked 'by default' without offering specific references in each case. It also clearly shows his biases and opinions, but if one can look past these issues, and draw out the actual factual statements, which are clear to spot, then it is perhaps a useful resource material. Those areas that are speculative and generalised, are just that, and the reader should make up his own mind, and not just take Rivera's word for it.

These ideas have no doubt influenced the Georgia Guidestones, constructed in 1979. It is not known whether they were commissioned by anyone of any actual influence or standing in such 'circles' or perhaps a wannabe, a Freemason or even a joker.

Adam Weishaupt developed the Insignia of the Minerval, or third degree of the Illuminati system, as documented in 1788. Three such medallions are known to still be in existence today. This is probably where the owl association with the Bavarian Illuminati originates from, at least in the modern context.

The following has been reproduced from the Freemasonry page.

The following article (with some generalisations) claims that Pike was the Grand Master of the order of the Palladium (Supreme Council of Wisdom).:

www.threeworldwars.com/albert-pike.htm

www.answers.com/topic/order-of-palladium

Order of Palladium: 'Said to have been a Masonic order, also entitled the Sovereign-Council of Wisdom, founded in Paris on May 20, 1737. It initiated women under the name of "Companions of Penelope." As proof of its existence, Jean Marie Ragon, the Masonic antiquary, published its ritual.'

www.sacred-texts.com/evil/dwf/dwf04.htm

'On the 20th of May, 1737, there was constituted in France the Order of the Palladium, or Sovereign Council of Wisdom, which, after the manner of the androgyne lodges then springing into existence, initiated women under the title of Companions of Penelope. The ritual of this order was published by the Masonic arch¾ologist Ragon, so that there can be no doubt of its existence. At the same time, so far as I am aware, there are few materials forthcoming for its history. In some way which remains wholly untraceable this order is inferred to have been connected by more than its name with the legendary Palladium of the Knights Templars, well known under the title of Baphomet. In any case it failed to spread, and it is uncertain whether the New and Reformed Palladium, also an androgyne order, with which we shall presently be concerned, is a metamorphosis or reconstruction of the original institution, but a connection of some kind is affirmed. For a period exceeding sixty years we hear little of the legendary Palladium; but in 1801 the Israelite Isaac Long is said to have carried the original Baphomet and the skull of the Templar Grand Master Jacques de Molay from Paris to Charleston in the United States, and was afterwards concerned in the reconstruction of the Scotch Rite of Perfection and of Herodom under the name of the Ancient and Accepted Scotch Rite, which subsequently became widely diffused, and it is stated that the lodge of the thirty-third degree of the Supreme Council of Charleston has been the parent of all others, and is therefore, in this rite, the first supreme council of the entire globe.'

'In 1859, he [Pike] was elected Sovereign Commander Grand Master of the Supreme Council of Charleston...A Supreme Dogmatic Directory was created at Charleston, with Pike at its head, under the title of Sovereign Pontiff of Universal Freemasonry. Mazzini took over the Supreme Executive, having Rome as its centre, under the title of Sovereign Chief of Political Action.' Whilst there is evidence that it did indeed exist, it was also at the centre of an elaborate hoax, created by Leo Taxil, who referred to the Order of the Palladium, and Baphomet worship, in conjunction with other activities, in order to expose masonic connections of the Catholic Church.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leo_Taxil

The Masonicinfo web site below claims that the sole basis for associating Baphomet worship with Freemasonry is based on this hoax by Leo Taxil. However the quotes from Albert Pike and his Baphomet Sigil pendant would indicate otherwise.

www.masonicinfo.com/baphomet.htm

The following web site alleges that Albert Pike, was said to have had strong links with Giuseppe Mazzini, the Italian 33rd Degree Freemason who was alleged by some to have been invited to head up the (Italian branch of the) Illuminati in 1834. Mazzini is also reputed to have founded the Italian Mafia.

www.threeworldwars.com/albert-pike.htm

It has been stated by some however that the correspondence that the above allegations were based upon were most likely forged and written much later. However, the sacred-texts article above does confirm a relationship between the two individuals within the organisation of Freemasonry. Whether one believes in the 'Illuminati' connection or the letters outlining plans for 'global domination' and 'world wars' is a matter for personal taste.

http://freemasonry.bcy.ca/anti-masonry/pike_mazzini.html

Historical records paint a much different view of Giuseppe Mazzini, who was fighting for the estabishment of an Italian Democratic Republic and although a nationalist, was an early advocate of the 'United States of Europe' or European unification; and who had nothing to do with the mafia as far as is known. Karl Marx criticised him as being too middle classed in his outlook. It is however understood that he was a 33rd Degree Freemason, as stated further above. Were his dreams of a democractic and unified Italy and indeed Europe related to the penchant of both Pike and Mazzini for a more universal top tier masonic structure? This need not necessarily be associated with the 'Illuminati' although it may share some conceptual similarities (with the myth or indeed the reality of the 'Illuminati').

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mafia

The Illuminati is described and scrutinised on Wikipedia at the link below.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illuminati

The Illuminati is described in the Catholic Encyclopedia at the link below. Here the occult practices are not explored or mentioned, but rather the overall political aims and 'religious' philosophy of the organisation, and its relationship with Freemasonry. A number of the most prominent representatives of Freemasonry and "enlightenment" became Illuminati, including, in 1783, Duke Ferdinand of Brunswick, the foremost leader of European Freemasonry and the princely representative of the illuminism of his age.

http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/07661b.htm

Below is an generally factual article which follows the idea that the Illuminati were a slightly gnostic, anarchic and non-mainstream type religious and rationalist secret society that did indeed die out in 1785-86 or thereabouts. It also proposes that the Illuminati were far from accepted within Freemasonry at the time; and also that their use of Egyptian symbolism inspired others in the occult world afterwards, including Aleister Crowley and the Golden Dawn, etc.

http://home.swipnet.se/~w-40977/coolpeople/weishaupt.html

Below is an extract from Vernon L. Stauffer's book 'The European Illuminati, Chapter 3. This is hosted on the Grand Lodge of British Columbia and Yukon's web site.

http://freemasonry.bcy.ca/anti-masonry/stauffer.html

The implication then of this theory is that they were simply a secret society with gnostic and occult leanings, which wanted to undermine Christian religious domination, but which was persecuted by the royal dynasties and religious leaders of the day. The newly formed societies by ex-members are not explored.

Some argue that when the Illuminati courier Lanz was struck by lighting in July 1785, his body and horse being charred but the saddlebag containing the secret book about the Illuminati being intact (which identified key members and the goal/agenda) was discovered, it smelt like a set up. Some people argue that the Bavarian Illuminati was just an underground illuminist organisation trying to cause a little trouble and who were framed by the monarchs of the time who felt threatened by their slightly anarchistic stance and questioning of the Christian church, Christian values and the monarchs of the day. So the argument goes that the Illuminati were set up and eliminated on the basis of doctored evidence. People who use this argument would regard the Bavarian Illuminati as being a wise group of occultists and libertarian revolutionaries, an inspiration for occultists and esotericists (like Crowley perhaps viewed them) and view the modern elite as being anti-democractic and the 'bad guys', copying some of the Bavarian Illuminati's symoblism. Perhaps the modern view of the 'modern' Illuminati is of modern construction - or perhaps it is because the protagonists in question are more open about their affiliations and more arrogant than their precedessors. Or perhaps because we are in the information age, access and spread of information pertaining to them is so much easier. Perhaps with more people involved, there is room for more leaks, exposure and 'whistleblowers'.

Were the Bavaraian Illuminati a libertarian, anti-authoritarian group, whom modern occultists were inspired by and made infamous by - framed by the authorities of the time as they were considered a threat? Or were they an anti-democratic group of megalomaniacs who were obsessed with dark magic? Or a perverse combination of the two? Indeed, the distinction is sometimes blurred amongst followers of the Left Hand Path, the extent to which self-power and wisdom become a lust for power over others, greed and self-deception. Those who want to self-actualise (in materialistic terms) often end up at the top of the food chain. That is the way of the world.

The All-Seeing Eye:

When Weishaupt founded the Order of the Illuminati, he adopted the All-Seeing Eye symbol of Freemasonry, to be the symbol of the organization. It is the Great Pyramid of Cheops, with the capstone missing, and replaced with an eye. The All-Seeing Eye can be traced back to Chaldea as the Solar Eye, the Eye of Jupiter or Apollo, or the Eye of Providence. Hieroglyphics in ancient Egypt identified the name of the chief Sun God Osiris with a human eye. The Eyptian symbol of the Eye of Ra, aka Eye or Horus is shown below.

The All-Seeing Eye is often depicted as an eye inside a triangle or pyramid with light emanating from it. The All Seeing Eye can be found to crop up in numerous other places ('coincidentally' of course!) The All-Seeing Eye (emitting 'Godly' light) is often associated with Lucifer. It is used by Rosicrucians, many modern Luciferian groups, Gnostic Lucifierian groups and 'dark' Luciferian groups (i.e. (Poly)Theistic Satanic groups) and has been used within Freemasonry in different branches and contexts. See the sections above regarding Gnostic Luciferianism. Light or the God of Light is also a reference to either the Sun God or to the Morning Star (Lucifer). The 'black light' or the 'black sun' is as aspect of Satan. The emanation of light from the cap stone of the pyramid containing the eye is also perhaps a reference to those illuminated or enlightened individuals who have achieved Gnosis, the light of illumination and 'divine knowledge' emanating from them; perhaps also a representation of personal power and skill in influence. The peak of Gnosis being the top of the pyramid, where a person could be said to truly 'shine' or blossom (in the Gnostic or occult sense, with self-conscious spiritual awareness). The eye in this context perhaps represents the illuminated individual who can perceive and 'see' all, i.e. Gnosis. Perhaps even becoming 'God-like', like Ra. Perhaps Ra is an archetype for the 'higher self'. Some interpret the symbol as representing the few illuminated ones, or illuminati (ie. the cap stone), governing or controlling the many (the bulk of the pyramid below it). Two dimensional pyramids are often used to illustrate hierarchies in such a manner in a variety of contexts. The exact meaning, then and now, is open to interpretation.

www.byzant.com/Mystical/Symbols/EyeOfHorus.aspx

One could in some respects regard the modern esoteric and new age obsession with the pyramid as an example of Egyptian mysticism recreationism creating a new meaning of the symbols of the past; or perhaps a 'tourist' version of the past. The pyramid itself was not a temple or place of worship for the ancient Egyptians of course, but was the crypt or burial place for the Pharoah. It was in a sense an 'afterlife' machine, to ensure that the Pharoah was safely transported to the afterlife and underwent 'Apotheosis' or 'Divinization' (i.e. to become a God). To ensure that the Pharoah blazed in the sky next to the sun and the other stars. Whilst an extensive burial ritual was performed, the Pyramids were not attended by the people at the time; except for the resident workforce in the Valley of the Kings that built the Pyramids, often started 20 years before the death of the Pharaoh. Pyramids were a bit of a fad (even if incorporating Planck's constant in the dimensions), and started off as a flat building, and gradually, they were build as step pyramids, finally evolving into the pyramids we see standing today. They were the tallest man-made structures in existence for many thousands of years and perhaps a large ego trip for the Pharoahs in question. The actual worship of Egyptian Gods took place at the various Temples, each dedicated to its own God. Worship would generally be lead by the Pharoah himself, with the Temple Priests. It is thus ironic that those with an interest in Illuminism, the teachings of Hermes (Hermeticism) and ancient Egyptian mysticism thus choose the symbol of the Pyramid rather than the Temple to represent these beliefs or ideals. To use the most recognisable symbol of ancient Egypt is a tad unimaginative, combining this with the Eye of Ra, to represent an evolved meaning - a politically correct version free of all the tyranny and killing of the Pharoahs, and indeed old pagan practices of sacrificing of burnt offerings of food to keep the God(s) happy. There is nothing wrong with recreationism, taking what one likes from the past and ignoring the undesirable parts, as long as one recognises it as this, rather than painting a rose-tinted view of the past. However, one could argue that the pyramid is used as a metaphor for Apotheosis, or self-deification in the Satanic sense; or in the gnostic sense of reuniting with the Pleroma, the pantheistic essence of God.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesuits

'The Society of Jesus (Latin: Societas Iesu, S.J. and S.I. or SJ, SI ) is a Roman Catholic Church religious order of clerks regular whose members are called Jesuits, Soldiers of Christ, and Foot soldiers of the Pope, because the founder, Saint Ignatius of Loyola, was a knight before becoming a priest. Jesuits are the largest male religious order of the Roman Catholic Church, with 18,815 members - 13,305 priests, 2,295 scholastic students, 1,758 brothers and 827 novices - as of January 2008, although the Franciscan family of first orders OFMs, Capuchins, and Conventuals has more total members. The average age of the Jesuits in 2008 is 57.53: 63.01 for priests, 30.01 for scholastics, and 65.06 for Brothers. Jesuit priests and brothers are engaged in ministries in 112 nations on six continents. They are best known in the fields of education (schools, colleges, universities, seminaries, theological faculties), intellectual research, and cultural pursuits. They are also known in missionary work and direct evangelization, social justice and human rights activities, inter-religious dialogue, and other 'frontier' ministry. The Society of Jesus is consecrated under the patronage of Madonna Della Strada, a title of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and it is led by a Superior General, currently Adolfo Nicolįs. The headquarters of the Society, called General Curia, is in Rome. The history curia of St Ignatius is now part of the Collegio del Gesł attached to the Church of the Gesł, the Jesuit Mother Church.'

The Seal of the Society of Jesus is shown below. Whilst there is no triangle or pyramid in the design, it does show the 'sun's rays' or 'Sun God' theme (perhaps intended to mean the light of Jehovah or Jesus?)

Aleister Crowley used the Eye of Ra inside a triangle (pyramid?) in the symbol of his Ordo Templi Orientis organisation. He also used the term 'Illuminati' in various contexts within the organisation, for example, the Hermit Triad. The Secret Areopagus of the Illuminati is a philosophical Governing Body of the O.T.O. comprised of those who have reached the VIII°. It has the authority to reverse the decisions of the Grand Tribunal.

The Luminist League's symbol is shown below. The Church of Gnostic Luminism is associated with this.

The Cao Dai religion is a universalist, syncretic, monotheistic modern religion started in 1926 in Tay Ninh in Southern Vietnam. It holds God as the creator of the universe and it aims to unify all religions under it to unify humanity. The religion believes in reincarnation/rebirth and believes in practices such as prayer, veneration of ancestors, pacifism and vegetarianism. It can be seen to draw on elements from a variety of religions and philosophies (e.g. Taoism, Confucianism, Buddhism etc.), from the East and West into a syncretic mix. It recognises a variety of prophets, teachers and even artists as being sent from God, including Christ and Buddha. There are three levels of teachings, those of Buddhas, Sages and Saints. Only those who attain the level of Buddha are considered to break out of the cycle of life and death (reincarnation).

In Cao Dai, God is symbolised by the 'Divine Eye', specifically the left eye because Yang is the left side, and God is seen as being the Master of Yang. This is clearly derived from ancient Egyptian mysticism, representing the Eye of Ra.

www.caodai.org

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cao_Dai

The All-Seeing Eye is also sometimes associated with God (e.g. on the Dollar Bill, on the Catholic Cathedral at Aachen in Germany), although perhaps this is really Lucifer, who can say! Some people argue that Lucifer was actually being worshipped within parts of the Catholic Church in secret. The All-Seeing Eye at the Aachen Cathedral can be seen below. It should be noted that the Eye of Providence is not a universal Catholic symbol, nor is it used by any other mainstream Christian church. The Palace Chapel at Aachen Cathedral was built by the Emperor Charlemagne. Only few dates are known about when Charlemagne ordered the building of the Palace Chapel. In 786-787 A.D. Pope Hadrian authorized Charlemagne to transport marble from Italy to Aachen. In 798, the precious ancient columns were erected in the church. The delivery of the relics in 799 / 800 assured the completion of the building. The inauguration by Pope Leo III in 805, however, is a legend.

http://faculty.cua.edu/pennington/ChurchHistory220/LectureTwo/PalaceChapelAachen.htm

As described in the Freemasonry section below, the two faced eagle was popularized in Europe by the Emperor Charlemagne, and the symbol was adopted formally into Freemasonry in the mid-eighteenth century, by the Council of Emperors of the East and West. Charlemagne also had the Palace Chapel at Aachen Cathedral commissioned, which features a golden All Seeing Eye in a triangle, the classic symbol of occult Illuminism. Charlemagne (a.k.a. Charles the Great) was Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and conquered much of Central and Western Europe (the EU today is sometimes referred to affectionately as Charlemagne as it 'unites/controls Europe'). It is alleged he was part of the Pre-Templars Guardians and that he possessed the Spear of Destiny (something Hitler was also obsessed with).

Woodcut from a book on alchemy showing an "Eye in the Sky" precursor to the Eye of Providence is shown below. Quo Modo Deum translates as 'This is the way of God'.

The seal or symbol of the Illuminati, the triangle with an Egyptian style all-seeing eye inside it, is allegedly identical to that found on the Great Seal of the United States and of course on the Amerian Dollar Bill. Whether this is actually true or not is another matter (if anyone has any hard facts to verify this - please email).

The original design for the Great Seal of the United States by Pierre Eugene du Simitiere in 1776 is shown below. Taken from the PDF version of the US Department of State's pamphlet The Great Seal of the United States.

There are other occult symbols on the Dollar Bill. 13 is a magical number. There were 13 original colonies, 13 signers of the Declaration of Independence, 13 stripes the American flag, 13 steps on the Pyramid on the dollar bill, 13 letters in the Latin above the pyramid, 13 letters in "E Pluribus Unum", 13 stars above the Eagle, 13 plumes of feathers on each span of the Eagle's wing, 13 bars on the shield, 13 leaves on the olive branch, 13 fruits, and 13 arrows.

Clear images of both sides of the Great Seal of the United States can be found below.

The Obverse of the Great Seal:

The Reverse of the Great Seal:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Seal_of_the_United_States

http://bensguide.gpo.gov/3-5/symbols/seal.html

Quoted from the above educational web site:

'Do you see a pattern of thirteen in the Great Seal?

- 13 stars in the crest above the eagle
- 13 stripes in the shield upon the eagle's breast
- 13 arrows in the eagle's left claw
- 13 olives and leaves in the eagles' right claw
- 13 letters in the motto carried by the eagle, E Pluribus Unum

Why thirteen? Thirteen represents the first thirteen states - Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. The seal's reverse side is sometimes referred to as the spiritual side. It contains a 13-step pyramid with the year 1776 in Roman numerals at the base. At the top of the pyramid is the Eye of Providence and above is the motto Annuit Coeptis, meaning "It [the Eye of Providence] is favorable to our undertakings" or "He favors our undertakings." Below the pyramid, a scroll reads, Novus Ordo Seclorum, meaning "New Order of the Ages." It refers to 1776 as the beginning of the American new era.'

www.state.gov/www/publications/great_seal.pdf

All these occult references might lead one to believe that the 'God' of the Dollar bill is perhaps not referring to Jehovah, but the Great Architect of Freemasonry (which may or may not necessarily be Jehovah, but could embody some 'light' characteristics of Jehovah as well as darker ones, i.e. actually Lucifer). There is of course a lack of clarity in this area as to who 'owns' the symbols and what they mean in each context. BlackSpy does not personally believe the All-Seeing Eye is a Christian symbol, and neither do Luciferians.

Although the Supreme Court's web site makes vague references to Jewish religious history and the Old Testament (part of the Torah), concerning some of the symbolism used, it is clear that it is heavily influenced by Ancient Egyptian architecture and mysticism, similar to some of the monuments and buildings in Washington D.C.

To the North is the Pyramid, which houses the Supreme Court's library. This also acts as the main entrance or 'gatehouse' to the Supreme Court complex. As far as BlackSpy understands, one walks underneath the Pyramid to gain access to the main complex. On the outside, on the top of the Pyramid is an All Seeing Eye. The Supreme Court claims it is an architectural representation of the Second Temple period!

Below is the tunnel under the library. One can look through the window above the tunnel and view the pyramid.

Below is the inside of the Pyramid - the library.

On the west side of the Supreme Court is the Dorothy de Rothschild Promenade.

The Courtyard of the Arches is 'similar in design to courtyard of the Rockefeller Museum in Jerusalem, built during the British Mandate period (1917-1948)'.

The stairs going to the street look almost like a Pyramid with the sun at a certain angle, and the stairs were designed with a mirror at the bottom to give the impression it descended into the depths of the earth.

In the grounds is an Obelisk.

...and strangely Hindu altars...

All in all, about as Jewish and Biblically influenced as BlackSpy's pants. Of course, the governmnet of Israel is entitled to design it's Supreme Court building however it wants, but it should at least be honest and present it for what it is, and not pretend it is representative of the mainstream religious traditions of Israel, but more the mystical preferences and penchants of the 'elite' and of Freemasonry. Please see elsewhere in the Religion Other section for references to the Rothschild and Rockefeller families. The irony is, that although Israel is very close to Egypt, the Egyptian influences in this instance are very modern and did not come directly from Egypt (where Ancient Egyptian religion is no longer practised, having been replaced by Coptic Christianity and Islam), but from Europe via Freemasonry and elite bankers and business people. One can also guess as to how impartial the Supreme Court really is, and the exact nature of the relationship between the Rothschild dynasty and the Israeli government, although this would be pure speculation of course.

Fundamentalist Christian and 'conspiracy theorist' articles about the complex can be found at the links below.

Egyptian symbolism and Egyptian influenced architecture in Washington D.C. is explored in detail on the Freemasonry page.

Whilst BlackSpy is not suggesting that all the other uses of the Eye of Providence or related symbolism is evidence of being 'Illuminati', these examples clearly show where the concepts and symbolism of the Illuminati came from, i.e ancient Egyptian mysticism, and what other organisations and institutions have used or stll use similar symbolism or ideology today. More examples of Freemasonic usage of Egyptian symbols and architecture can be found on the Freemasonry page. This is not to say that all those who subscribe to the philosophy of Illuminism and who draw on Egyptian mysticism are necessarily megalomaniacs like the Bavarian Illuminati were, but that is not to say that some are not. Indeed, what constitutes a modern equivalent of the Bavarian Illuminati is a matter of debate and interpretation, but there are clearly similar organisations in place today with albeit similar goals (in many senses) and similar levels of secrecy/privacy. It does however show what other groups and orders share similar ideas regarding Illuminism and Eyptian religion and may well directly reveal the religious beliefs and occult practices of the Bavarian Illuminati. Those members of these different groups may well represent a form of Left-Hand Path that puts self-interest and gain as the highest goal, regardless of the effect on others, and often at the expense/death of others. This goal may well unite these groups, that seem to network and interconnect to varying degrees.

The 'Modern' Illuminati:

Some people believe that there is a 'modern' Illuminati, i.e. the Bavarian Illuminati that just continued in a different name and with more secrecy. Evidence for such claims and association/speculation can be found at some of the links in this section. Perhaps this is true. Whilst one may be able to follow the family tree of various infamous banking families, such as The Rothschilds, that are involved in The Bilderberg Group today and were reputed by some to have been involved with The Illuminati in the 18th Century, to actually state that they are members of a 'modern' Illuminati is another matter. Other groups often associated with The 'modern' Illuminati are the Skull and Bones Lodge and also many of the attendees of Bohemian Grove. Elements of the United Nations, EU, IMF and so on can be shown to have been infiltrated by members of these groups. However to what extent these groups represent The 'modern' Illuminati is indeed another question.

Most 'conspiracy theorists' believe that the 'modern Illuminati' are represented by one or more of the above elite groups described on the Elite Groups page; some say they are 'all Rosicrucians'; others say that they are 'all Luciferians'. However, whichever flavour individuals are, the elite groups seem to share many common beliefs and practices, and the nature of these beliefs is that they can easily accommodate or adopt other related beliefs in their Left-Hand philosophy in a seemingly syncretic manner. Those who share some aspects from both Paths may represent themselves as firmly Right-Hand to the public when in reality this may not be the case at all, e.g. those Presidents and Prime Ministers who claim to be Evangelical Christians but are actually members of esoteric Secret Societies and worship an owl once a year at Bohemian Grove. Perhaps Rosicrucianism allows such individuals to blend in and draw on different 'faces' of their beliefs and faiths. This could also be said of Gnostic Luciferianism, but this in general appears to not be the preferred faith of the 'elite' but more counter-culture oriented (although this is a gross generalisation). Modern Luciferianism is perhaps a better fit than Gnostic Luciferianism for the some of the rich and powerful. Who is to say that some Christians cannot adopt a variety of occult practices, pagan deities and Left-Handed ideas (through induction into various orders and societies) and still maintain some degree of their Christian faith, at least in an official capacity?

Clearly if there is a 'modern' Illuminati, the goals may have evolved (or not) from the days of the Bavarian Illuminati, but the methods have clearly changed, and they are clearly more secretive and perhaps more influential than they once were in the 18th Century. However, using the term 'Illuminati' is regarded rather negatively by many academics, and it conjures up extremely negative connotations with some of the excesses and the most ludicrous theories of the Conspiracy Theory scene. It would be more sensible to refer to these groups and secret societies by their actual names, and stick to the facts. These organisations may well the modern equivalents of 'The Illuminati' and indeed may literally be descended and have grown out of it, but it is best to use the correct nomenclature for the sake of credibility.

There is no hard evidence to suggest that the organisation did in fact cease to exist as much as there is no hard evidence to suggest that the organisation continued in the same form but under a different name and still exists to this day. Clearly some of the same influential families and connections still exist today, and are involved in similar activities. However, one could perhaps argue that they were simply inspired by the Illuminati in many respects. However, the goals and membership is now different. The Bavarian Illuminati were anti-monarchistic, anti-establishment religious institutions and anti-clerical, whereas the modern groups that are credited with representing the 'modern' Illuminati contain monarchs. They have no need to be anti-monarchist and anti-estabishment as they have reached the top of the pecking order, or a useful place of influence in political, socio-economic terms. They are a major influence on US foreign policy (c/f CFR) and one can but speculate how much influence groups such as the Bilderberg group actually have. So the modern 'elite' are maybe achieving what the Bavarian Illuminati could only dream of, in terms of power and influence. The modern groups are pro-establishment, or rather a certain aspect of it, and are oiling their old boys networks and working to spread their sphere of influence, anti-democratic self-interest and global vision. The social, economic and political elite are amongst its numbers including key monarchs and royal figures. The extent of the involvement of these individuals and what these groups really represent is a matter of debate, and it could be argued to be people simply wanting to associate with those with the most power and influence as they feel it will best serve their own career and interests. Like elitist networking and 'ass kissing', fancying oneself as having some self-important role in influencing the future of the world. Feeling like they matter. Whilst getting an ego trip from their esoteric/strange activities in private.

Is there a direct link? Or an indirect one? Did the remnants of the Illuminati carry on networking and influencing in secret after the official disbanding of the Illuminati? Or are the modern elite (or anyone who engages in corrupt behaviour and has any remote connection to the known elite, branded as an 'Illuminati') connected to this group? Or did they just embrace some of its philosophy and follow their own agenda? Does it really matter? In a sense what is actually happening now is the only thing of relevance here, so whether there is a direct continuity between a past historical order and the elite of the present is in some sense irrelevant. One can speculate about the intentions of the Bavarian Illuminati, as clearly there are different accounts of whether they were good or bad, and just concern ourselves with the anti-democractic and anti-civil rights type behaviours of some of the 'elite' today, and focus on that.

Some of the quotes below seem to suggest there was a direct continuity. However, we must put these into the context of widespread rumours and fears (i.e. hysteria) about the power and influence of the Illuminati that were rife at the time.

Leon Trotsky wrote in his book 'My Life: The Rise and Fall of a Dictator', on pages 124-127:

'It was during that period that I became interested in freemasonry. ... In the eighteenth century freemasonry became expressive of a militant policy of enlightenment, as in the case of the Illuminati, who were the forerunners of the revolution; on its left it culminated in the Carbonari. Freemasons counted among their members both Louis XVI and the Dr. Guillotin who invented the guillotine. In southern Germany freemasonry assumed an openly revolutionary character, whereas at the court of Catherine the Great it was a masquerade reflecting the aristocratic and bureaucratic hierarchy. A freemason Novikov was exiled to Siberia by a freemason Empress. I discontinued my work on freemasonry to take up the study of Marxian economics. ... The work on freemasonry acted as a sort of test for these hypotheses. ... I think this influenced the whole course of my intellectual development.'

Some claim that Adolf Hitler was the illegitimate child of Alois (Rothschild) Hitler (1837-1903), one of the Rothschilds.

www.reformation.org/adolf-hitler.html

The Rothschild banking dynasty has been documented to have been involved in tipping the balance of the Napoleonic War, by buying British bonds (i.e. buying loan notes to the government at a fixed rate of return) and also influenced the direction of the American Civil War, but declining to buy Confederate bonds at a time when the Conferderacy needed funding. It is alleged this is because they were considered to high risk, despite their implicit support for the Confederacy (having opposed the Northern Federalists in 1860). Whether this suggests underhand political manipulation or just ruthless business sense is another matter. Some of the above writers have linked the Rothschilds to a number of other conflicts, including the French and Russian Revolutions, and even the Second World War.

An interview with a claimed ex-Illuminati member elaborates on the alleged structure of the modern Illuminati is shown at the link below. This gives a rough view of how royal families and those of rich, influential families and elite groups may be interconnected.

www.theforbiddenknowledge.com/hardtruth/pt12.htm

It is not unthinkable that something like this might exist. After all, most people at some point in their childhood wanted to rule the world or perhaps believed that a one world government would be a good idea as it would fix all the world's problems. So it likely is that certain individuals who believe they have the influence, birthright and intellect that they should rule over others and prferably the more the better! People who perhaps want to extend their personal empires as far as possible with other likeminded individuals.

Theories Surrounding 9/11:

Some believe that 9/11 was the work of the 'Modern' Illuminati/Bush/Mossad etc and that it was co-ordinated by the US Military. Some even claim that remotedly or robot controlled planes were used.

www.prisonplanet.com/911.html

Some believe it was an insurance scam/controlled demolition that was co-ordinated with the actual terrorist attacks. Web sites and videos relating to the 'demolition/insurance scam' conspiracy theories can be found below.

www.prisonplanet.com/011904wtc7.html

Various videos showing 'charges exploding' prior and during the collapse, after Flights 11 and 175 had crashed into the towers, can be seen at the video below and any number of other videos if you search on youtube for '9/11 detonations' etc. These videos are either showing actual detonations or are a sick interpretation of real events depending on how you look at it! However, the footage does look a little suspicious.

www.lonelantern.org/collection.html

There are a variety of contradictory theories which fit into this category, not all of which are believed/accepted by the same proponents. Evidence used is perhaps speculative and in many areas contradicts CCTV footage and eye witness accounts/recordings.

The other view amongst conspiracy theorists is that it was either allowed to happen (Al Qaeda being responsible); or the most widely held contrarian belief that the US government and CIA were just incompetent. A web site that examines new stories relating to events preceding 9/11 can be found at the link below.

www.fromthewilderness.com/free/ww3/02_11_02_lucy.html

Some argue that it is a 'rather big coincidence' that there was a training exercise taking place both on 9/11 and on 7/7 that mimicked the actual real attacks, organised by the military and a private contractor respectively. These exercises clearly assisted the actual terrorist attacks in question and allowed them to proceed as far as they did without raising any eyebrows (and indeed in the case of 7/7 allowed the bombers to escape if they were spotted because of the ensuing confusion about whether it was part of the drill or not - with many people running around looking suspicious with rucksacks being part of the drill). This is a documented fact. This does not prove anything of course. However, it does sound a little too fantastical to be actually be coincidence.

The conspiracy theories surrounding the 'drills' are probably more believable, which is why they are so popular. Perhaps there was a security leak on both occasions which caused the perpetrators to co-ordinate their attacks, or perhaps it was the other way around (i.e. intelligence of when the bombings would take place setting the date of the drill, or even the 'government telling the bombers when to conduct the attack')! Perhaps the 7/7 'perpetrators' thought they were part of a drill too, but had been given real bombs - this might explain the fact that their MO suggested they thought they were coming home afterwards (buying parking tickets for their cars etc.) Either way, it makes the US and UK governments look bad, especially as no official public enquiry took place in either case. It should be remembered that such a terrorist attack takes years to plan, and the likelihood of last minute time table changes to fit in with 'last minute leaked information' about the schedule of exercises/war games is highly unlikely. It would have either been a coincidence (with near 0.00 probability) or it was planned/co-ordinated a long time in advance.

Below is a timeline for the collapse of Tower 7, the third tower to collapse in New York, but which was never actually struck by a plane. Tower 7 is the only steel reinforced building in the history of mankind to collapse because of 'fire damage'. The fire alarm system to the building was put on test just hours before the first plane stuck the WTC on the morning of 11th September. A coincidence?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/conspiracy_files/7437516.stm

There is debate as to how all the structures of the building could have simultaneously collapsed in the horizontal plane, which some structural engineers regard as being 'impossible'. However, to say that the building was rigged to 'blow up' in a controlled demolition, 'just like the Twin Towers' is quite another. The amount of wiring and preparation required to rig these buildings for demolition and to have detonated the 'bombs' in such a co-ordinated manner without raising any suspicion would have taken many months to prepare and would have presumably been obvious to staff working in the buildings. No evidence of rigging has been found, however some claim that the levels of aluminium found in the debris and dust can only be explained by the hi-tech explosive, Thermite, which would have explained the high temperatures necessary to have actually melted the steel structural beams. Thermite is an experimental explosive and not used in commercial demolition, which some say proves that such 'stealth' demolition was not possible.

www.whatreallyhappened.com/thermite.htm

Some also claim that the smoke that appeared to be coming from Building 7 was actually coming from the debris of the Twin Towers.

http://georgewashington.blogspot.com/2007/03/smoke-did-not-come-from-wtc-7_19.html

BlackSpy is not particularly convinced about the theories about robot-controlled planes hitting the WTC. There are discrepencies in eye witness accounts surrounding the plane that hit the Pentagon and no hard evidence exists to prove that it was indeed a Boeing 757 (Flight 77) and not a drone loaded with explosives. CCTV footage shows an obscured object a split second before impact, which cannot conclusively be identified as a 757. Some eye witness reports claim that an airliner flew OVER the Pentagon and a smaller plane, like a Jew Fighter, actually slammed into the building. With an Air Force training exercise taking place on the day of the attacks, who can say? No one actually saw the 757 crash into the Pentagon. An eye witnes on board a military aircraft circling the vicinity, himself at the centre of many conspiracy theories, states that he saw a 757 flying very low, and the next moment he saw/heard an explosion.

The Truther documentary Loose Change, which makes some interesting points, does however contain a certain number of factual errors, which does it no favours. These should really have been ironed out before release.

www.loosechange911.com/blog

For example, Loose Change and a number of conspiracy theorists rely on an erroneous news report that Flight 93, an American Airlines Boeing 757, was hijacked and had been redirected to Cleveland Hopkins airport. The plane that landed and was grounded was not however Flight 93. Flight 93 crash landed/was shot down in Shanksville, P.A. There was a confusion over two flights following a similar flight path from Boston, AA Flight 93 (Boeing 757) and Delta Airlines Flight 1989 (a Boeing 767). Flight 93 was the plane that was hijacked, but it had its transponder switched off so it could not be tracked. It doubled back. The flight that continued along this flight path was thought to be Flight 93, in the confusion (allegedly) and it was forced to land at Cleveland as it was believed to be hijacked. This turned out to be/is alleged to have been a Delta Airlines 1989.

BlackSpy however keeps an open mind and acknowledges that not enough information exists to absolutely prove official statements or opposing conspiracy theories. There are too many inconsistencies on both sides, and there is seemingly no one completely solid and indisputable explanation or version of the truth. Of all the conspiracy theories and official accounts, the most plausible to BlackSpy are those that postulate that Al Qaeda terrorists were indeed responsible for the attacks but that the US Government either co-ordinated events around them and allowed them to happen. It is clearly hard to prove that this was the case and the evidence could equally mean that the US Government, CIA and FBI were criminally negligent. Whether there was a conspiracy as such prior to 9/11 or not is a matter of debate. For example, whether the failure of the CIA to pass on intelligence information to the FBI early enough was on account of incompetence or as a result of interference by certain individuals, one will never know. Also, if whether the inability to follow standard protocols and scramble F16s on time could be considered as incompetence by the aviation authorities or interference by certain individuals to allow the attacks to go ahead. Without a full public enquiry, we will never know. But one can be sure that there was certainly a conspiracy AFTER 9/11 to prevent examination of the events leading up to the attacks and the attacks themselves. The Bush administration denied a public enquiry, much as Blair's government did after the 7/7 attacks. The Bush administration only has itself to blame for the lack of confidence in it and the proliferation of conspiracy theories against it.

The Psychology of 'Conspiracy Theorists':

If you search the internet, you can find every conceivable magical tradition, occult practice and major political, economic or military event attributed to 'The Illuminati'. Indeed, some believe that the 'modern Illuminati' is controlled by those with some genetic or mystical connection with Jesus or with Cain. Others (e.g. David Icke) believe that they are controlled by 'Reptilians' or 'Snakoids' (or is BlackSpy confusing this with the movie 'Tremors'?!)

Joking aside, Reptilians are discussed on the Left Hand Path page, as being a possible psychological or astral phenomenon, depending on what one wants to believe.

www.davidicke.com/index.php

A Rosicrucian member and Theistic Satanist friend of BlackSpy (referred to as 'C') has expressed the following views (and not necessarily BlackSpy's views). These are summarised in italics below, and have been extrapolated slightly by BlackSpy to apply more specifically to subject discussed elsewhere in this Occultism section. These views may be seen as influenced to some extent by David Icke.

There is a controlling elite, structured in a pyramidal fashion, as described by many 'conspiracy theorists', such as Jim Marrs, David Rivera and David Icke (if you ignore the reptilian/snakoid references in the latter case! See below.)

www.jimmarrs.com Mr X's view is that the 'outer elite' (the visible levels of the 'pyramid), including some public figures, are of many differing beliefs and religions, from Freemasonry, Luciferianism, Rosicrucianism, Jesuits/Catholics etc. They are engaged in visible conflicts of various kinds, and are or at least were seen as being on the 'good side', through selective presentation of the facts and a very short term memory in terms of historical context.

The 'inner core', or the higher levels of the pyramid, the 'invisible brotherhood', are deemed to be more fluid in their beliefs, in that their can accommodate all of the beliefs below them. They believe nothing per se, or elements of everything, as they are 'Gnosis' or 'knowing'.

The 'inner core' (when they are interviewed or conversed with, whoever they are!) are seen to answer in an open ended manner as this is the only way of answering without uttering a falsehood (in kinesiological terms). Labels are often perceived differently by any two given individuals so communicating whilst trying to avoid labels is quite difficult. Some see this as being evasive or sidestepping pointed questioning (not answering the question) or as manipulative, as no direct or simple 'yes' or 'no' answer is ever given - if the questions are insinuating a meaning or conclusion, uttering an answer may not be possible! 'Those who speak do not know and those that know do not speak'. It is sometimes said that those who expect a simple answer, then the simple answer is usually a lie. The truth does not usually come handed to one on a plate and is rarely simple. It is often the position of dialectics (a synthesis of opposing views). Of course such a philosophy is not restricted to the 'inner core' of the elite, but equally can be espoused by other individuals who are neither interested in leading or following and who would have no interest in such a divisive and controlling structure and ethos. However dialectics can be used by either side to perhaps justify their position and could be viewed thus as being manipulative in this sense, depending on the target audience is (and perhaps an implied outcome thereafter). The analogy of questioning/interview is really for illustrative purposes and to signify the thought process of the 'inner core'.

Funnily enough this is the approach that BlackSpy takes, in that he seeks to examine opposite ends of the spectrum to extract elements of truth from each standpoint and finding empathy with all and their circumstances/history. Everyone is right to some degree, some more than others. No one speaks all falsehood or all truth. The trick is to cherry pick the pieces of truth from different areas to develop a balanced frame of reference, to find something of value in everyone; to be able to relate to any person that you meet on some level and find some common ground somewhere (if you look hard enough). After all, all humans have to eat/sh*t/sleep etc. and are motivated in different ways. Having said that, most people usually have a base in some kind of theological or spiritual position, even if they 'walk into the neighbour's garden once in a while'.

The 'inner core' are thus thought not to control anything directly, and are not conspiring as such, but are thought to 'project thought streams onto the mass consciousness that can radically change perceptions and dramatically alter political events'. They 'cannot help what they are' and are just projecting themselves and the Will outwards. They themselves are just consciousness, as is everyone else, and they are capable of manifesting conflicting paradigms based on continuous flux and juxtaposition of ideas that rise out of the expression of possibilities; ideas that do not always coexist harmoniously, and which may evolve in a fluid manner; indeed sometimes representing ideals at polar ends of the spectrum. A change in thought pattern is thought to alter the world's consciousness, as if the world is 'rearranging itself' as in the movie The Matrix. A desired outcome may not be one goal but a string of goals, or a process that goes from one step to another, and not always in the same direction. This may ensure a raised level of consciousness of the population and more 'personal consumer power' on one level but perhaps also increased control and decreased levels of consciousness (fear) and less personal freedom on another. Perhaps these phases or aspects do not always coincide at the same time. Perhaps in this manner, the traditional religions are threatened as their source of power is reduced. Traditional religions are viewed by Mr X as espousing inertia and conservativism, whereas the 'inner core' have the reverse values of resisting interia and dynamic change (according to the outer elite's agenda).

Clearly whilst having fluid beliefs, one can presume that amongst the 'inner core' there is some element of 'preferred' systems or at least methods/practices for projecting the consciousness and attaining Gnosis. One would assume that this would involve some form of occult practice, but equally such individuals perhaps possess the ability to project their Will and consciousness without the need for magic ritual, ceremony or preparation. If one of their goals is to project their 'power' onto the world so that the strong may prevail or those drawn to their own power prevail, then that may indeed be their intent or desired outcome. One could argue that 'power' is the archetype of Satan, the deity for Theistic Satanists and the archetype for 'Atheist' Satanists. Those who wish to project 'power' have a different intent or intention behind this projection than, say, those who wish to embody love, healing or unity with The One. It would however seem that the 'Gnosis' is drawn from the archetypal Left-Hand Path and those of Gnosticism and related philosophies. Of course, all elements of the pyramid are assumed to be interested in Illuminism in one form or other, but perhaps the reason for 'The 'Modern' Illuminati' being known as 'The Illuminati' is that they are extremely adept in Illuminism or extremely Illuminated! The exact nature of this Gnosis, and the extent to which it represents Power, and the extent to which it represents a mixture of different conceptions of Gnosis is of course a matter of debate, and the above interpretation of power is just one of many. It could equally be less representative of the base instincts of the lower self and be a higher ideal, or perhaps elements of both.

So just who are the 'inner core'? Mr X believes the inner core to represent the most enlightened individuals on the planet, historically and in the present (e.g. an esoteric interpretation of the figures of Jesus Christ, Buddha, Lao Tzu, Merlin etc. and their modern equivalents.) The 'inner core' have no secret societies, no need for esoteric symbols and so on. They intuitively recognise each other. They are just independent, truly 'enlightened' individuals. They just are. They may well have or have had followers that try to capture their essence, but fail, and create clumsy institutions or religious/esoteric movements in their name. These individuals are believed to have 'supernatural' abilities, or to have reached such heights of self-deification and self-actualisation that they are able to directly influence the minds of others and even physical matter, through thought alone; bending the world or their immediate 'universe' or microcosm to their will (as if they were in the movie The Matrix). Consciousness (of the masses) is thought to be easier to mould than physical matter as it is 'less dense'. This is after all the goal of many esotericists and followers of the Left-Hand Path, although few if any will ever attain these. Perhaps this view of the Illuminati theorised by Mr X is reflective of his own esoteric (LHP and Hermetic) ideals and goals/dreams of self-deification and supernatural power and Gnosis; or a result of watching too much sci fi! Who is to say. Mr X believes, as do those who follow the LHP and related esoteric philsophies, that one can attain this level, through dedication in practice and open thought, a become a 'hypermind' and 'cross over' to become one of these 'inner core' figures. Those who are so small minded and egotistical (the 'outer elite') that they are trying to build up their own little empires in a sneaky manner clearly will never achieve this. One could look at great emperors of the past and the fact that they probably did not sneak around in secret plotting and manipulating to reach that level of transcendence and self-expression. It was a path they were 'destined' to follow and they had the vision to follow it through and make it real.

The inner core's consciousness is thought to be the subconscious mind itself rather than the conscious mind and the degree of synchronicity between it and the subconscious which constitutes the subconscious of the vast majority of people. Various occult practices and indeed other mental, psychological and spiritual exercises are thought to be a way to access the subconscious mind for personal growth, self-actualisation and in order to project the Self, or the Will. To further confuse things, one could even view the collective subconscious of humanity as the 'inner core', as opposed to specific individuals - or perhaps just their consciousness is reflective of the subconscious of the the whole. Perhaps though this is just another way of saying that the 'inner core' are a direct influence or in control of the subconscious of humanity, on account of the above.

One could argue that the 'inner core' may not have as much influence as one might imagine. Or indeed that they are not the esoteric individuals we imagine, and that their consciousness may well be more Right-Hand Path or indeed less about the Self than we imagine, i.e. the conventional view of Jesus or Buddha. Indeed, one can see the consciousness of the many billions of Christians and Hindus in the world as an example. One could look at the increased level of secularisation of the Western World and indeed other parts of the world on account of hyper-capitalism and mass consumerism (c/f Novo Ordo Seclorum - New Secular Order or New World Order - from the dollar bill) and the rise of Christianity in places like Africa. One could look at the spread of Islam in response to modernisation and mass consumerism. One could look at the spread of popular psychology and token environmental awareness and concern (which is a start). Or the explosion in popularity of strange ideas about the children of Jesus as a result of one fictional book by Dan Brown. One could also take the examples of famous occultists of the last 200 years and their influence on the public consciousness, the more popular New Age movement and indeed their influence on modern occultism (and its increasing popularity in the world). The general consciousness of mankind can in some respects be said to be increasing over time (some regions and individuals more than others of course) - this is discussed on the Belief page. One can also argue that there are many millions of people who have achieved some level of enlightenment in the world who are also projecting their consciousness onto the world and influencing the consciousness of the masses or the world through international media networks, and that the world is in fact in a state of flux and being influenced from a variety of directions and by a variety of minds, of varying intents. Anyone with an idea, who has enough determination and vision can change their microcosm and indeed the world. That is perhaps the whole point of being human, that we have the ability to do this - for what we see as the greater good or for personal freedom hopefully! Or not! Rather than just to exercise control over others for one's own amusement; As we can't expect to be born into a modern world that we 100% like as everything has pros and cons. Who is overall 'winning' or prevailing is of course open to debate and perhaps reality is never so simple. The media and manipulation/presentation of 'news' also plays an important part in shaping the public consciousness. Who controls the media and how much control do they have over certain news stories?

There is no direct connection as such between the 'inner core' and 'outer elite' and in some ways one could consider the 'inner core' not to actually be part of The Illuminati, or rather the elite groups that most people consider to make up the network of the Illuminati. There is said to be no connection through either conviction, business, brotherhood, secret societies (probably) or politics. Certainly, the analogy above does not fit the 'outer elite' very well, as the 'outer elite' is to varying extents very much more ego-oriented to varying degrees. There are many examples of members of the 'outer elite' who are dishonest, manipulate, cheat (embezzelment, money laundering, stealing government funds allocated to contractors in reconstruction projects (in Iraq) for example etc.), lie, spin the truth for their own ends (e.g. the prelude to the 2002 invasion of Iraq on the pretext that Al Qaeda were based there and that the Iraqis possessed Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs) which could be deployed in 45 minutes). Those politicans concerned claimed that the blame lay elsewhere when no evidence of either of these claims transpired in the invasion, however this is not strictly correct. Politicians are also known to lie about extra-marital relations when questioned in the media, only later to admit it. It could be argued that on account of this excessive childishness and dishonesty that on some level the individuals concerned are lying to themselves and cannot truly know truth, even if they think their esoteric philosophies predispose them to this. It is said by some occultists, including Mr X, that it is not possible to experience truth, gnosis and true connection with the subconscious, and indeed any high degree of proficiency at various occult practices if one does not embody truth, to oneself and to the outside world. You must be honest with (all of) creation if creation is to be 'honest' with you. It is said that those that lie or mislead cannot in any way embody this form of truth or gnosis; or if they think they can, then they are misleading themselves AGAIN. So perhaps those members of the 'outer elite' who are allegedly interviewed by leading conspiracy theorists and appear to give out too much sensitive information freely are higher up in terms of 'illumination' than others that would not do so!

The 'outer elite' in a sense are keen to associate themselves with the 'inner core' and imagine they are doing their work, are in contact with them, or even that they are the 'inner core', the heart of the Illuminati. It is really only the 'outer elite' who use ancient Egyptian symbols to communicate their perceived power to each other and to 'innocuously' represent the philosophies and inclinations they feel that they are affiliated to. Such symbols may also be an attempt to impress the population or instill reverence in them, and perhaps even to exert some esoteric influence over them. Who can say exactly. In this sense the 'outer elite' are trying to latch onto the coat tails of the 'inner core' and fancy themselves as god-like and self-deified and as illuminated as them. Perhaps this is why the alleged seal of the Illuminati, as pictured on the reverse of the dollar bill, shows a pyramid; both implying the Egyptian mystic origins of the beliefs and philosophies of the Freemasons and secret societies that founded America, and also the Bavarian Illuminati; but also signifying the structure of the Illuminati, with fewer at the top of the pyramid and more lower down in the pecking order, with less power. The top of the pyramid has been chopped off and is not connected to the bottom of the pyramid, and it is this top piece of the pyramid that contains the Eye of Providence, the All Seeing Eye, emanating light or illumination - perhaps even projecting its or their consciousness outwards to the world. Or perhaps this is just the light of illumination of an Egyptian God or the modern equivalent, Lucifer. Some argue that it represents a 'pan dimentional logos'. The bottom, major part of the pyramid sits heavily on top of the world, crushing it under its weight, like an obese, bully boy wrestler sitting on top of his opponent in the ring. Or perhaps it just signifies that the lower levels of the pyramid are wider in the control and firmer in their grasp or foundation and longevity, i.e. more fortified in 'hanging onto power'. Is the lower part of the pyramid the 'outer elite' and the top part the 'inner core'? Will one ever know the true meaning of this?

The 'outer elite' are thus seen to do the actual 'dirty work' of The Illuminati and the actual direct controlling, using cruder methods than the 'inner core', and thus on account of the diversity of belief and political stance and also short sightedness (greed or inability to see truth) may or not not always be congruent. Some minor conflicts of interest or heterogeneity may well and does arise. This often creates a more complex 'mess' and further division (divide and conquer) of the people that alternating political parties can take advantage of (blaming the other for the 'bad parts' and taking advantage of the enhanced and more powerful position) or simply more easily control or use as a pretext for enhanced control of the population. The chaotic manner in which the 'outer elite' operate, with often decreasing use of subtlety and increasing arrogance and carelessness, is reflective perhaps of their inability to grasp 'truth' on the highest level.

The power of the 'outer elite' could in a sense be regarded as a very superficial form of power, a materialistic power, which does not necessarily transfer into other areas. Wealth and networking does not necessarily equate to political power, and political power does not necessarily equate to the force of presence, personality or real passion. This could be why many of the 'outer elite' use NGOs to further their influence, as their power when combined is greater than the sum of its parts, and those who have no political power gain an ego boost from associating with such elite groups and organisations, by imaginging they really are something. Perhaps the 'outer elite' could be regarded as 'economic/political vampires' in the same way that parasitic people can be considered to be 'psychic vampires'.

The 'inner core' could be considered to have two functions, to project their consciousness and power onto the population, to strengthen the spirits that are prepared to listen who can pull themselves out of bondage. The 'bondage' is imposed as a challenge or barrier, encouraging people to break out of it and self-actualise, and to become 'strong', like a martial arts instructor teaching a student how to break through a board. In the same way a weight lifter needs some weight to push against to grow muscles. This is not strictly speaking necessary for the growth of the individual or indeed a nation, but is the way the 'inner core' want it. They feel that perhaps on a subconscious level, this is the way people want it. They feel they are pandering to the need to be dominated and to be led like sheep. And those that are strong enough or hungry enough break out of the mould and break away from the flock and can become strong and free thinking and successful. The exact interpretation of 'strong' or 'strength' or self-actualisation will of course influence one's view of the type of Gnosis the 'inner core' are projecting.

Perhaps this is the goal of globalisation, capitalism with few large companies, and the effects of globalisation on culture and mass consumerism on health and intellectual growth. A little like people like to see a horror movie, to see the few survivors make it out the other side, so they really appreciate what they have. This of course brings us to the flip side of the coin, and the second function, which is that of control, of scaling up business, agriculture and industry, for maximum efficiency and using the 'masses' as resources in an inhuman 'sausage machine', full of brainwashed 'serfs'. Of course, this model does not exactly describe the developed nations, where more and more people are becoming wealthy and middle classed - and more service and information industry oriented; with a small underclass kept poor; and developing nations paying the price. But the world economy will gradually become a level playing field, with the developed nations, with their reliance on low commodity prices from the 'poor countries' and the debt based 'wealth' will disappear (i.e. it was never really wealth or affluence at all, but the illusion of it) with sluggish economies and rising interest rates and inflation; and the poorer countries will become more developed and instigate more secondary and tertiary industries, and manufacturing goods at much cheaper prices, thereby putting many workers in richer countries out of work. We will eventually have a monogenised, single, unified, controlled mass and economy (on average poorer in the richer countries, and richer in the poor countries), a 'one world government', but where the elite are always looking after themselves at the expense of everyone else and where monitoring and control of the individual is at an all time highpoint in history, because of 'security issues', 'terrorism' and 'IT efficiency'. Some view the 'elite' as being biased towards Western Europe and America, represented by the CFR, Bilderberg Group etc., but there are other centres of power such as China and Russia, not always working towards the Western interests but their own, as discussed above and on the Elite page.

However, existence is self-correcting, as we know from nature and economics (inflated and hyped up stock prices or house prices with little sound basis eventually crash and self-correc, despite what the public or CNBC or Fox News believe), and a build up of negative feeling and dissatisfaction of those repressed or controlled by a dominant force will in some respects result in a reaction against them, to topple those mechanisms of repression (of expression or of economic/personal power). This happens in communist countries and in those countries under the iron fist or incompetent management. It also occurs in repressive families. Negative energy (repression) can be transformed into positive, creative energy (self-expression and breaking free), to bring balance again to an imbalanced system.

To what extent the presence of the 'inner core' is of benefit to mankind and to what extent they are a thorn in its side is a matter of interpretation. The what extent the 'intent' of the 'outer elite' is an afront to mankind and to what extent it is an intent of helping mankind is a matter of debate. Clearly some members of the 'outer elite' see themselves as philanthropists and others are more interested in control and monopolisation and securing of resources and gorging themselves on power and money than actually philanthropy. To what extent must the 'inner core' be responsible for the actions of the 'outer elite'? There is clearly a large amount of ego in the 'outer elite'.

The above is of course a gross oversimplification!

One could of course view this whole hypothesis as rubbish, and that the 'inner core' are completely irrelevant, as it is 'mumbo jumbo'; and that the 'outer elite' is really what the Illuminati is about, and whether they use symbols and follow esoteric practices of what they believe to be an 'inner core' is of no consequence, but just makes them look bad and makes for interesting sounding conspiracy theories, especially by those of a sensitive religious disposition! Those that are directly trying to manage mankind more than the spirit of democracy, humanism and ethical capitalism intended should ever be the case. Just who sits at the top of the tree and how the elite groups are interconnected and co-ordinated then is a matter of debate, and this is explored in the example further up on this page.

The above hypothesis is perhaps a more streamlined version of that which was communicated by Mr X, elaborating and extrapolating more on the plausible parts, if one believes in occultism as a real phenomenon. However, perhaps the rest gist of the 'inner core' according to this theory is that they are in fact extraterrestrial or not 'regular humans'. This is not a view that BlackSpy finds plausible. However, more often than not, notions of truth are mixed in with implausible claims, often to discredit the truth. This is something that is examined at the bottom of this page. There is probably some element of truth in the above, and its 'logical conclusion' but the exact extent is clearly personal opinion.

A further exploration of the above concepts of the nature of illuminism can be found in an anonymous Q&A session by someone who claimed to be a member of the 'non-human elite'. Whether it is a hoax or not, or the complete truth is being told or 'sexed up' is a matter of opinion, but it makes for interesting reading. BlackSpy is inclined to take it with a pinch of salt.

----------

In BlackSpy's view it is a telling of 'half truth', of mixing truth with fantasy, to either mislead people, to massage the proponents' egos or to discredit the truth. Are the proponents of such views eccentric, mad or plants (deliberately trying to discredit those who are actually concerned with telling facts)? Clearly the human mind likes to connect subjects or concepts together to feel certain or secure about oneself or the world. People often tend to externalise their internal psychological problems and look for faults and problems to blame to explain their own sense of dissatisfaction (e.g. sense of guilt, lack of self-confidence), where they do not matter but only a certain 'cause' matters. This way of rationalising self-hatred is dangerous as it makes it righteous and self-reinforcing, often accelerating out of control.

Perhaps in this syncretic and complex world there is a tendency to do so based on speculation rather than just sticking to the facts. BlackSpy has endeavoured to try to stick to the hard facts as much as possible, whilst making it clear what is opinion and speculation. There is a tendency in the conspiracy theory scene to establish a pattern that one holds to be true and simply look for events or activities that might fit in with it, to reinforce this viewpoint, whilst failing to consider those facts that detract from this viewpoint or which suggest that there may not indeed be such a generalised connection. Conspiracy web sites are as a result often extremely one sided and unwilling to listen to counter arguments or consider a more balanced approach.

There is a perception in the conspiracy theory scene, sometimes referred to as the 'Truthers' scene, or Truth movement, that there is some kind of unity. This is a little like the 'unity' when there is a war or conflict. If you create a common enemy, even if the individual perceptions of who the enemy is exactly and why they are an enemy may vary, it unites people who otherwise would have absolutely nothing in common or who might otherwise be arguing amongst themselves or fighting each other. This can be seen in certain ex-dictatorships that collapse into civil war when the central 'enemy' is removed. The 'Truth' scene is often made up of people 'mouthing off' about their own personal theories, rarely listening to each other, and ascribing wildly heterogenous versions of what the 'enemy' is involved with. Indeed, the idea of having an 'enemy' to blame for various political/social gives people a sense of certainty as described above.

There is of course a significant anarchist and far right wing contingent in the Truth movement. There is some overlap in perceived enemies, and both favour decentralisation, but the right wing contingent, usually made up of Christian fundamentalists, often see anything related to the occult or Freemasonry as part of the same global conspiracy, and in a sense justifies their own witch hunt of occultists and Freemasons that they have been doing for the last 150 years or more. The lack of ability to understand the occult in general and lack of historical religious perspective often does not help, resulting in rather inaccurate interpretations of current events and geopolitics. For some, anyone who is an occultist is part of a global conspiracy, which could not be further from the truth. Other groups who are often associated with a global conspiracy out of personal prejudice include Jews (Israelis specifically but this often spreads out to 'Zionism' in general), Catholics etc. There may be some truth in the allegations but it is often blown out of all proportion, linking disparate groups, nations or institutions with little in common into a secret global network. The conspiracy scene gives them fuel for their own personal WASP prejudices which cloud their ability to see the real facts.

Whilst there is often a great deal of truth in what is being said, it is often visualised in a crude manner, the actual truth being distorted with generalisations and speculation, and often with an agenda of making you feel powerless or paranoid. 'Conspiracy theories' often arise where there is little or little convincing information from the authorities. Some theories are too heavily reliant on inaccurate news reports, hear say, second or third hand statements (which may become progressively more distorted as they are retold), creating a pattern to specific events or facts that are single points in an ocean of complexity and cause and effect. When hard facts that are not often widely known are chanced upon, they are often not presented in a minimalist fashion but extrapolated upon with often inaccurate information, rendering the actual facts less plausible and taking away from their credibility. Of course, not everyone in the 'truth' scene is like this, and many journalists and reporters stick to the facts and avoid making too many generalisations. Some truthers may choose to seek out certain connections between events and news stories as they already hold these beliefs and seek validation and certainty. To reinforce one's existing beliefs makes one feel 'safe' and 'certain', even if it is in a dis-empowering way. Even when hard facts are presented that debunk certain points of a theory (and that is not to say that the rest of the theory is wrong), many truthers may acknowledge intellectually that there are likely factual inconsistencies in the bulk of the main theory, but are reluctantly to emotionally accept what this may imply. People may prefer to externalise their problems and have someone to blame rather than accept a complex and messy reality.

It is important to call a spade a spade, but also to separate truth from fantasy (bad trip) and to rationally examine the facts alone without instilling a plethora of negative beliefs into one's own mind and not building up associations addictively and for the sake of it. 'Truthers' often feel a need to build associations whenever they read a piece of news that relates to an area they are particularly interested in, and this only reinforces this addiction and negative mindset.

The elite groups, discussed on the Elite Groups page, whilst clearly interrelated to some degree (fact) are sometimes accused of being one and the same organisation, and are blamed for every disaster, act of war or perceived conspiracy. Whilst some of these may be true, the majority cannot be proven and are often examples of superstition and 'nightmare fantasizing'. In this post-modern and post-enlightenment age, with a large number of historical and present examples of historical dishonest and manipulative government and corporate conduct being exposed in the media over the years, and combined with a gradual distrust in conventional medicine, there is a tendency for many people within our culture to automatically distrust authority figures and to make up their own 'facts' or 'reality' to suit them and to please their ego. This is reflected to a high level in the 'conspiracy theory' scene and alternative medicine field, and mixed in with the facts, a disturbing amount of superstition. Another contributary factor is the lack of mental discipline present in many people in today's society. In our fast food, internet age, where people drive everywhere, people have become mentally lazy. Fewer choose to educate themselves on history and lack historical perspective. Many have a predisposition to pander to the ego and the mind's fears, and this position of fear and mistrust becomes reinforced with the addictive pursuits of the mistrusting.

One may of course choose not to formulate an opinion based on 'circumstantial' evidence or speculative arguments, but merely look at the hard facts, which is what this web site has attempted to do in its treatment of the above; and to keep an open mind (which may be viewed as suspicious by some) but not to jump to any wild conclusions based on 'neat superficial patterns'. To label everything that one doesn't like as 'Illuminati' or 'New World Order' does little for one's credibility when discussing such topics with informed individuals, particularly those of a different disposition. The use of these terms is often self-reinforcing and its usage gradually spreads to cover seemingly related events or areas, as it the exact same individuals are responsible, or that stupidity and short sightedness in economic and political decision making, corporate behaviour and resource management are a conspiracy rather than just being stupid, irresponsible or short sighted. The main thing when discussing such controversial topics is to stick to the hard facts and look at who is actually responsible and entertaining all different possibilities, rather than joining the dots in a way that pleases one's ego.

The conspiracy theory scene seems to involve too many individuals who read certain news stories and link them together with speculative notions, often generalising about groups of people and linking them together as if there was a direct rather than indirect connection. They may 'fill in the blanks' to create a narrative more pleasing to their egos. However, when such theories are communicated to others, they are often presented as 'fact', like the actual factual news stories they were based on. Many 'truthers' use such articles or theories as reference sources, citing them as being hard facts, when they are in fact a mixture of speculative opinion and fact, but which is which is not made clear by the author or speaker. They may in turn draw upon numerous other such sources and embellish them with their own connecting theories and generalisations. Often what emerges is a patchwork of often contradictory theories about certain groups, in one theory being mortal enemies, e.g. anti-Christian illuminati, and in the next theory we have Catholic Church/Jesuit consipracy theories. e.g.2. we have Republican party affiliated clubs like Bohemian Grove and to a large extent the Bilderberg Group, and other quarters stating that the 'elite' are pro-socialist, pro-Democrat Party, pro-liberalism and anti-family values and religion, and the Foundations of certain large corporations actually funding socialist causes. In reality, the Bilderberg Group was perhaps dominated by Republicans in the past, but comprises a heterogenous mix of influenctial people such as royalty, Democrats, socialists, Republicans, bankers, corporate 'fat cats' etc. A similar non-party biased mixture can be seen in the CFR. It is hard to make sweeping generalisations about affiliation and in certain respects there is no single core religious or ideological bias, but more a unity of purpose in method and desire for influence and control over government policy, financial institutions and international legislation - a mixture of greed and a misguided view of altruism. A little more than networking and an old boys network, clearly influential to some degree, but perhaps a long way from representing a united and unified ideological movement. In the end, opposing or contradictory elements in different conspiracy theories may be overlooked by many 'truthers' who lack rational ability, or may themselves be subject to a higher level consipracy theory, which ties together opposing elements, i.e. a plan to 'confuse' the masses by working the same goal from just different political ends of teh spectrum, some adopting a more aggressive strategy and others appearing more reasonable but stil supporting the same goal/ends. This is actually probably ironically not that far from the truth, with the caveat that they are probably 'networked' rather than 'rigid members of the same club, all following orders from above'.

So it is sometimes hard to tell the actual truth apart from truth embelished with negative fantasy elements, and indeed from the purely fantastical. Clearly in many cases, it is clear what is fantasy, but in other cases it is harder to tell. For every genuine whistleblower, there is another who is a 'Walter Mitty' type, who has made it all up, who likes the attention. When people figure out a 'faker', they are often accused of being 'plants', there to tarnish the 'truther' scene or to tempt people into illegal activity and to be promptly 'snitched on' and arrested. Whilst the latter does sometimes happen, and is a tactic of plants, in most cases, the individuals involved are just suffering from mental problems. It is a shame that the truth gets mixed up with conjucture and nonsense, as this over-enthusiasm does nothing for the cause of the truth, but merely paints the truth with the same brush as the rubbish, with the result that none of it is taken very seriously by the general public - except for a minority of hardened conspiracy theorists. The overall effect is one of self-regulation, as those who tell the truth are mistrusted as being 'conspiracy theorists', and it keeps them and their ideas/observations from wider acceptance in the general public. Whilst change cannot happen without wider public acceptance of a notion, or credibility in the right circles (be they scientific or political or economic), or political, economic, military or consumer power, it will certainly never happen when the public is divided down the middle and segregated. In the truth is presented in a factual and conservative manner, with the minimum of conjecture, or if there is conjecture, it is made clear it is just that, then it stands a much better chance of acceptance in the public domain. As long as society is divided along belief lines, like class or religious boundaries, then the 'conspiracy theory' scene will never be a significant threat. Whilst isolated cases of certain key whistleblowers or people party to certain sensitive specific information being involved in 'automobile accidents' may occur, in general, the respective government agencies generally tend to ignore these people as this is their best strategy. The truth will become associated with fantasy stories, or embellished or forgotten; and if not, it will only be accepted by this 'truther' group who are regarded as social outcasts but the majority of the population. Divide and conquer. Some individuals are exposed to death threats, but these are likely people acting on their own rather than from orders from 'above', or anti-truther conservative types throwing their weight about; a little like animal right activists take it upon themselves to terrorise or threaten anyone working in a laboratory known to be conducting animal experiments though 'over-enthusiasm'. Without sufficient political backing or will to act on such information, it usually just goes away. If neither party sees it in their interest to act on it, but merely to preserve the status quo, then nothing will likely ever come of it, without actual hard evidence and proper backing.

There is certainly a great deal of enthusiam in the 'Truther' scene, perhaps a little too much! Clearly the issues are highly emotive, and can see why certain individuals are highly motivated to tell what they perceive to be the truth, for the good of their country. However, in certain specific instances, certain conspiracy theories surrounding specific individuals have resulted in a great deal of intimidation, bullying and even death threats. This is perhaps balanced by some conspiracy theorists receiving death threats and phone calls during the night. Clearly more open debate on these topics is healthy and necessary for our society, and indeed to debunk those specific theories that are actually proven to be incorrect, so that the individuals involved can be treated with respect.

As discussed on the Focus page in the Psychology section, if you are looking for something, you will most probably find it. For example, if someone mentions the colour 'brown', you may start to look around you and notice how many things around you are in fact brown that you hadn't noticed before, for example, brown shoes, brown jackets, brown hair, trees, the paintwork of 1970s cars etc. Similarly, if you are actively looking for 5 pointed emblems, you may well find a large number and it is easy to 'associate' these with 'pentagrams'. This may also be the case with 'owls'. Each case should however be treated separately and there may or may not be a link in each individual case. Some elements of the 'Truther' scene may just have a problem with focus, and whilst they may find genuine symbolism and connections in one area, they may falsely or very weakly find such things in another area, based on their method of focus and 'wishful thinking'.

It could be argued that by writing about these examples, BlackSpy is doing them a favour by focussing everyone's attention on elite groups and providing free advertising, which is not of course what BlackSpy wants to achieve. If you focus on a person in this way, what may often happen is that rather than question them, you may actually give them significance, and perpetuate their power over people and fear amongst people (which gives them power). It could be argued that it is 'bad karma' or the last thing you want to do if you subscribe to the concept of the 'law of attraction' (i.e. Focus on what you don't want, then you get what you don't want rather than what you actually want!) For victims of such cults, for example, focussing on them and continually reminding oneself of them can be extremely negative and prevent closure. This is the trouble with the 'conspirazoid' movement, it perpetuates notions of governments being all powerful, and makes readers of these theories feel helpless and disempowered, which is supposedly the opposite of what they intend to achieve. Whether the actual theories in question are true or not is an entirely different matter! If these cultish people were just ignored and not mentioned, and therefore not talked about, then it might be better for everyone. But where such people are widely praised, or regarded as benevolent, non-corrupt or honest, then it is one's duty to inform others of both sides of the story.

Repeated from the Focus page in the Psychology Section:

It can often be hard not to focus on what is wrong in your life, your circle of friends, with your work colleagues, school friends, or with the environment, world poverty, economics, politics or current affairs, from attaching a certain meaning to our experiences or from what we read about or see on the news. Sometimes it is hard to not let our focus and thoughts be inundated with negativity rather than appreciating what is good. It is of course up to the individual, but there is a fine line between between being informed and aware and being obsessed! Negatively obsessive minds look for faults and problems, and they will always find them, which further reinforce negative beliefs that are not empowering or useful to have. This is particularly applicable to the 'conspiracy theorists' or 'conspirazoids' who may well be right about certain (or many) points, but their focus seeks out further links and connections that may sometimes be incorrect (and at best speculation), to reinforce their beliefs. It is an addictive negative pattern of focus that leaves the person feels disempowered and not empowered. In a sense it is a search for certainty, so one can pigeon hole things so one feels one knows where one is with them. Rarely is anything so simple in real life. This is why the conspiracy scene tends to attract those that have too much uncertainty in their lives and whom have confidence issues. The conspiracy scene, whilst intending to do good, may well be nurturing mental illness, paranoia and depression, and providing negative addictive patterns of focus. Perhaps the truth about current affairs should come with a public health warning! Perhaps it is a reflection on society that in western industrialised countries, death is hidden away and is something that happens to people in far off lands, and not on your home soil. Official statements by politicians rarely reflect what is actually happening on the ground. Perhaps it is a desire to introduce 'reality' or a raw edge in one's sanitised life. It is possible to see patterns in anything, just look at the Da Vinci Code! Whilst in many cases conspiracy theorists may indeed be correct, it is clear the movement is not united - theorists come in a variety of flavours and degrees of being grounded, and in many cases their ideas totally contradict each other. It is by no means a united movement. It is therefore prudent to keep an open mind, but to not put too much credence into speculation, coincidence, symobolism and conjecture, but to deal with the facts as much as possible.

You may take it for granted that you can appreciate the good and funny things in life, but you may not actually do it, or make any effort to do so unless they strike you on the nose, but you may well make a huge conscious effort to find things to get annoyed about. Let us use a metaphor for a moment. If you think of walking along a pavement and seeing some dog's business [or use alternative terminology!] on the pavement, you'd be a fool to step on it and not notice it. But equally, you'd be equally foolish to become an expert in dogs' business and know the exact chemical composition of dogs' business just because you happen to come across one on the pavement once a week. If nothing else it would be psychologically unhealthy and anally retentive to do so. You want to notice the dog's business, avoid the dog's business, but also notice the nice flowers by the pavement and the beautiful sky and enjoy them and not let thoughts of the dog's business stay in your brain more than momentarily. The thought of the dog's business that momentarily flashes through your brain could be one of amusement or it could be one of annoyance, it which case it will linger for much longer and be hard to get rid of. To think of dog's business the whole time you are walking along the pavement (thinking this is the entirety of the experience of walking) would be rather odd and you'd miss the bigger picture. In a sense one is simply engaging one's ego in a massive way and nurturing it by focussing on, obsessing, and reacting (often negatively) to current affairs news and ideas about them. The ego is what is behind stress, rebelliousness and reaction. It ultimately results in unhappiness. Such states of ego-derived stress lower one's energy levels. The ego clearly has a place in one's daily existence, but it should be restricted only to where it is useful and productive in a given situation; as opposed to occupying 99.5% of your conscious waking experience (and dreams!)

Repeated from the Belief page in the Psychology Section:

In a sense, religious or spiritual beliefs are just an extension of our other beliefs. When a person believes in a certain religious concept or spiritual belief, he often does so because it sounds appealing or it is the way he feels things 'should be'. Spiritual beliefs are often created or taken on in order to justify a person's actions or behaviour or an ideal of behaviour, or to support inaction, or even to provide a kind of 'opium' for the mind - a kind of leverage to feeling good that might not be possible otherwise with 'secular beliefs' that do not go as deep into the psyche and seem like 'good ideas' rather than 'musts', with less emotional leverage attached to them. BlackSpy has noticed that a person's religious or spiritual beliefs often reflect their general attitudes or beliefs in other areas, and the more outlandish one's beliefs are, the more likely it is that one's spiritual beliefs will be as outlandish, if not more so. BlackSpy has personally found that Conspiracy Theorists or 'Truthers' to have the most far out religious or spiritual beliefs, and these often reflect their frequently far out secular beliefs or ideas on current affairs. Religious or spiritual principles or motivations are also often attached to these conspiracy theories, 'sexing' them up even more, creating even more 'unreality'.
